Join the Edmonton Skateboarding Association
Do you love skateboarding and want to make a difference in your community? Consider becoming part of the Edmonton Skateboarding Association team! There are a variety of ways to get involved, including assisting with skate lessons, providing support at events, contributing to ESA media coverage, and assisting with general operations and administration!
Volunteer Positions:
- Skate Lesson volunteers will mentor beginner skaters (both children and adults) by teaching them the fundamentals of skateboarding. This includes proper board stance, board feel and control, ollies, dropping in, and so on.
- Event Support volunteers will assist with current (e.g., Adult Skate Nights) and future events (e.g., skate jams and Go Skate Day activities) through setup and tear down of equipment, building and repairing skate features, and so on.
- Media volunteers will contribute through capturing photos and videos at events (e.g., Project Rad Skate Lessons), creating graphics to promote events, and so on.
- Operational / Administrative volunteers will assist with running the ESA information and skater check-in booths at events, organize schedules (e.g., volunteer coordination and event schedules), gather and organize general ESA documents, contribute to the general logistics of ESA and their events by providing input, and so on.
While some volunteer positions require experience (i.e., Skate Lesson volunteers are expected to have extensive skateboarding knowledge and skills, with preference to individuals who have taught lessons or worked with youth/beginners before), we encourage people from all backgrounds and skill levels to apply! This is an excellent opportunity to meet new people, gain volunteer experience, grow your skills, and give back to the skate community!
Why join us?
As both an incentive and appreciation for your time and commitment, volunteers will receive some sweet perks!* Currently, those who volunteer for the Adult Skate Nights will receive free admission to the session they volunteer for – that’s 1.5 hours of free skate time!
Interested in joining ESA? Fill in our Volunteer Google Form here! For more information on how you can support the Edmonton Skateboarding Association, including financial donations and business sponsorships, head over to our Volunteer / Donate page!
We look forward to connecting with our upcoming volunteers very soon; let’s work together to strengthen Edmonton’s skate scene!
Sincerely,
The ESA Team.
*Note: as the organization is both a non-profit and in early development, volunteer perks are still being workshopped at this time.
